In this short video, which is produced by Lonely Planet TV, you get a glimpse of what makes Hawaii so popular. You have beautiful beaches, great weather and also you can visit the volcanoes.

They suggest watching an outrigger race or even trying a ride for yourself. Another popular thing to do is surf or watch surfing. The north shore is world famous for its huge breaks and dangerous barrels. Just make sure you go at the right time of year. I went in summer and the waves were non existent.

Other attractions not mentioned in the video that I enjoyed include Pearl Harbor and the USS Arizona memorial. Also you must try to take a walk up to the top of Diamond Head Crater near Waikiki. Once you reach the top you are rewarded with an awesome view of Waikiki and the beaches below.

Here is a bit more information about the state of Hawaii.

The United States of America state of Hawaii consists of eight major islands and one hundred and twenty-four minor islands, with a total land area of 6,425 square miles and a coastline of 750 miles.

The highest peak is the impressive Mauna Kea on the island of Hawaii or the big island. It tops out at an altitude of slightly under 14,000 feet. It is lucky for the residents of Hawaii that it is beautiful as it is the most isolated population center on earth, being 3,846 km (2,390 miles) from California, 6,196 km (3,850 miles) from Japan and 8,887 km (5,510 miles, roughly ten hours flying time) from the East Coast of Australia.
