The Great Smoky Mountains are a mountain range that runs along the North Carolina and Tennessee state border. The range is part of Appalachian Mountains. Every year more and more people chose The Smoky Mountains to be their destination of choice to escape the stressed life of the city and take some time to relax and de-stress.
The great smoky mountains national park is considered a national treasure. It abounds with hiking trails, high peaks, breathtaking views, tall trees, and diverse species of wildlife. The park attracts more visitors every year than any other park in the country. It is estimated that more than 10 million people visit the park each year.
the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is home to over 10,000 documented species with estimates as high as 90,000 for how many undiscovered animals may still exist. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park was founded June 15, 1934.
The Great Smoky Mountains provide a lot of outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, white water rafting, fishing, sightseeing and camping.
The Great Smoky Mountains receive heavy annual amounts of precipitation during the year which result in smoke evaporating from the mountains hence the name “Smoky”. Annual precipitation amounts range from 50 to 80, and snowfall in the winter can be heavy.
With scenes of everything from giant hemlocks to black bears, everyone wants to experience this natural wonder.
Also available are excursions by railroads along 53 miles of track, 2 tunnels and 25 bridges. This excursions take you through amazing landscapes in North Carolina.
The admission to the National Park is free and it is open year-round.
