Toyota Avensis Hand Brake Problem?

Hi

Our handbrake will not hold on a steep incline when fully loaded with people and luggage. It has had new rear discs and a new drivers side calliper. Its a 52 reg. Any ideas what the problem could be?

tighten the cable (if possible), you should always park in gear on a hill anyway, the handbrake is only designed to hold the car unloaded, not full of people and even then should only be used in conjunction with other parking measures.
