I have just got home from a night out with my wife as we were celebrating Chinese New Year. My wife is from Beijing however right now she is in Australia so she has to settle for watching the Chinese celebration on television. Watching some of the performances it makes me want to hurry over to Beijing right now.
If you have read my article about finding a cheap flight to Beijing you would know right now is not the time to be able to get a reasonable priced flight to China. This week in China is probably the time that the most people in the world are travelling as a large percentage of the Chinese population is either returning to China from abroad or they are travelling to visit relatives within China.
In the next few days it is a good time to be going to Beijing as the flight traffic will be going the other way on return journeys. Unless you are an impulse traveller with up-to-date visas and passport it is probably a bit late to be taking advantage of the cheap airfares to Beijing that follow Chinese New Year but this is something to keep in mind for next year.
In the next few months it is the low season for Beijing. If you do not mind cooler weather and prefer less people at the tourist attractions it is a good time to be searching for your cheap flight to Beijing and heading off to check out the Great Wall of China, the Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, Summer Palace and many other attractions.
If you are a sports fan you would no doubt be aware that Beijing will be hosting the summer Olympics in 2008. As of Sunday 18 February 2007 there are 536 days until the games start. If you are planning a visit to Beijing in 2007 one thing to keep in mind is that there will be test events in the sports to be contested at the Beijing Olympics. If you look at the test event calender you may find something of interest that you could plan to see while in Beijing. I am thinking about the beach volleyball to be held on 13-18 August.
