I have been going to Burrill Lake for about 22 years. It is a delightful little community around 2 and a half hours south of Sydney, and just 5kms from Ulladulla/Mollymook. As the name suggests there is a lake which opens to the ocean. You can go fishing, swimming and boating at the lake. This time last year on went on a cruise at Burrill Lake.
Just near the lake there is a beach. As this is not patrolled it is a safer option to go up the road 7kms to Mollymook beach. This beach is beautiful. It has a long stretch of sand and has a headland at one end that can be walked around. My wife and I also discovered a great natural rock pool. In all my time going to the South Coast I had not seen this delightful swimming area. It is so calm and the water is crystal clear.
Another fun attraction I had not bothered to check out before was free bird feeding at the Big4 Bungalow Park. A friend of mine had been recently and said it was better than the Currumbin bird park on the Gold Coast of Australia. After hearing that I had to see for myself. As it turned out there were plenty of birds however they did not all land on the patrons as expected. If you were patient you got up close and personal with the rainbow lorikeets that frequent the area.
The park is located on the south side of Burrill Lake. You will find the bird feeding setup just near the office for the park. The feeding takes place at 4.00pm each day.
