Las Vegas is undoubtedly one of the most spectacular places on earth and one of the best USA holidays you can go on. There is so much to do and see that you could easily spend months there not get bored.  It can be a little overwhelming however and you need to plan your Las Vegas holidays properly before you go in order to get the most out of them. If you follow these tips then it will help you get the most from you holiday and avoid any negatives.

Leave the city. It might sound like a strange think to say but getting out of Vegas city is one of the best things you can on your holiday. Vegas lies in the stunning Nevada desert which can only be truly appreciated when you break free on the hustle and bustle and experience the landscape’s vast features. Checking out the world famous Grand Canyon is something that should be on your list. To witness a sun-set that will stay in your memory for years to come, leave for the canyon couple of hours before sun down. If your budget can stretch to it, I recommend the helicopter tours, they’re out of this world

Go to shows. Las Vegas boasts some of the top shows on earth. Because of the money and big names int he city, they are quite often jaw-dropping. You may even want to check before you go and plan your trip around which shows are on at the time. Do make sure you check a number of reviews before you book a show though as they tend to be on the expensive side and trying to cancel and get refunds is sometimes difficult

Limit your gambling fund. Even if you have never gambled before in your life, chances are the amount of opportunity to do so Vegas will tempt you into trying. If your someone who is tempted into a little betting then make sure you have a preset budget and don’t go over. Work out your budget before you start your betting and only bet what you can comfortably afford to lose.

Follow these tips and your holiday in Vegas will be one those American holidays that you won’t forget in a hurry

  • As we realise we are in the midst of one of the biggest financial crisis that we have seen for a long time.

People all over the world are trying to save money in these current times, so companies have realised that one of the best ways to try and do this is by either offloading staff, which has ultimately ended up in a huge unemployment rate, or a new approach that companies are taking and allowing workers to take a lot longer holiday time.

Businesses all over the world are looking at various ways to reward staff, but without increasing their pay packet. The greatest way to do this would be by increasing the given holiday time. But this has a major positive effect for numerous reasons.

    1) Staff are quite upset at the moment as they just do not know if there jobs are going to be secure enough, so by offering them more holidays you are in fact lowering there stress levels throughout the year. Making them work a huge amount better.
    2) It helps the business save cash in the long run, folk always want pay increases every year, but companies cannot afford them kind of expenses at the moment, so maybe giving them extra holiday time is the key to keep them happy.

Summing up this is a great method and technique that both employees and employers can benefit from, in my opinion the employers will save themselves a huge amount of money and in return the staff will be more relaxed because they will have more time to spend on themselves and could go on holiday or safari holidays at least twice a year.

    For great Kenya holidays

  • The recent political unrest in Thailand highlights the need to register yourself with the appropriate government department when going to an overseas country. In my case as an Australian I would go to the Smart Traveller website and register myself.

The reason you would want to do this is if a normal calm situation suddenly changes as has happened in Thailand and you need to be made aware of the situation or you may need assistance to return home. If you are registered the embassy in that country would be better able to serve you in your time of need.

Even when all is okay in the country you are visiting it is worthwhile registering as sometimes something may happen to loved ones at home and you may need to be contacted urgently.

Another highly reccommended thing to do when travelling overseas is to get travel insurance. A lot of people have the attitude that nothing will happen to them where they require travel insurance however you just never know what can go wrong. A recent example is where Australian journalist Matthew Hill fell critically ill in Beijing while covering the 2008 Olympics. He required a medical evacuation from Beijing. Without insurance this can be a costly exercise.

I recently returned from Beijing and was lucky enough to not need to call upon my travel insurance however I never considered going on vacation without first taking out a travel insurance policy.

I also recall another instance where I was working in Beijing. One of my colleagues fell ill and was in a serious condition that required hospitalisation. He was fit and strong and would have never expected this to happen. He had travel insurance and was well looked after in a western standard hospital. This was all thanks to travel insurance.

For people interested in travel registration you can learn more at the page I have on this website.

    Countries you should avoid

According to the Australian Government Smart Traveller website as of 24 June 2008 you should not travel to the following countries:

    • Afghanistan
    • Burundi
    • Central African Republic
    • Chad
    • Comoros
    • Iraq
    • Somalia
    • Sudan

Smartraveller.com.au is a website made for Australian travellers by the Australian Government. The information is not strictly only for Australians. People from other countries can benefit from reading the information they will find at Smart Traveller.

  • Where is your next vacation?

With today’s modern airliners providing access to more for less the chances of getting a cheap flight have improved. If only the cost of oil would go down and then there would be some sensational prices.

Still it is affordable to travel the world to see exotic locations. It just takes some imagination and then you can see the places of your dreams.

What is the place you would love to see? Some travel experiences I know people are planning include a six week holiday in France. The friend of mine who is doing this would love to go to France in July this year and hire a car. From there he will travel to the places you don’t see if you go on a package tour. He is planning to find local guides that can show him the out of the way places in France. This will be a truly unique adventure.

Another friend is planning on a visit to Vietnam, once again the focus is seeing the places that not everyone will go to. It seems people are wanting more unique holiday experiences nowadays.

With this comes some risk so it pays to get travel insurance and also register with your countries local diplomatic mission in the country you plan to visit. See the travel registration article for more on this.

My family and I are also having a vacation this year. My wife is from Beijing, so we are going back for the month of August. We get to enjoy the great food available in China as well as take in some Olympic events. Just to be in Beijing at this time should be amazing. Hopefully the Tibet situation will not interfere too much with what should be a fantastic sporting event.

What are your plans for your next vacation? Do you want an overseas adventure or are happy to stay local? There is so much to see and do and with careful planning you can save yourself lots of cash and lots of hassles.

In August 2008 Beijing will play host to the Summer games. You don’t have to wait for this sporting showcase to think about a visit to China. Here are some China travel tips to help you enjoy your next vacation in China.

Although history and culture tends to vary considerably between Asian countries, it can be helpful to get some general Asia travel tips. However, China is unique in that it is the world’s most populous country and is under quasi-Communist rule. The government is under the strict control of the Chinese Communist Party. Read up on travel advice that can be found free from various government websites before making travel plans.

The majority of Asian countries are much the same in that they display a high degree of respect for their elders and customs are very prevalent. There are also a number of items that are not allowed to be imported or exported from China. Unauthorized items include guns, ammunition, explosives, certain radio parts, Chinese currency, media that is contrary to China’s politics, economy, culture, and ethics such as pornography or religious texts.

When visiting China one must be careful even when taking what might seem like innocent magazines into the country. The image and suggestions that appear in many magazine ads may be considered pornographic by Chinese officials even though they are completely normal in many other cultures. It is also illegal to export rare items, such as relics, some books, rare plants and animals, as well as precious metals or diamonds. As you find information on this topic, you may find many Asian travel tips that indicate that other countries have similar policies.

In China, there is a low crime rate, but it has increased in recent years. However, foreigners are rarely victims of crime. Many experts suspect that the low crime rate is partially due to the lack of guns in China, but stabbings have become more prevalent. Many of the laws are different in China, although laws and penalties relating to drugs are strict and can result in serious jail time. Occasionally foreigners are detained and fined for improper sexual relations with Chinese citizens.

One of the China travel tips that is likely to come in handy is take some time to learn several basic phrases in Mandarin, the official language of China. Although you do not need to be fluent, knowing how to locate a bathroom and ask how much something costs will help immensely. Depending on how long you are in China, you may be present for one of their many holidays. If this is the case you should find some holiday tips, find out what is being celebrated, and join in on the festivities. Many times knowing the proper holiday tips and customs is enough for Chinese people to make you feel more welcome. The two main Chinese holiday periods are Spring Festival and National Day. A tip for you with these holidays is to try not to travel at these times as it is extremely busy.

Even though it may sound like China is too serious about many issues, their rules and regulations ensure that China remains a safe place for its citizens and visitors. Tourism is emerging as a major industry in China and the laws will likely become more lax in the future. Be sure to search for your China travel tips before departing on your Chinese vacation, and of course don’t forget your travel insurance.

If visiting China you will find getting a cheap flight to Beijing is a great starting point for your vacation. Beijing can be used as a base before heading to attractions such as the great wall of China and the Terracotta Warriors in Xi’an. You can also take a train ride down to Shanghai and enjoy many attractions in that region. When taking a vacation in China the options are endless. I hope you enjoy the China travel tips.
