I was lucky enough to visit Fiji just over two years ago. My family and I went on a Fiji package holiday. The price included the airfare, transfers, accommodation and food. It was good being able to leave the wallet in my pocket for most of the holiday in Fiji.

The only time I got it out was for some souvenir shopping.

We went to Fiji from Sydney, Australia. The flight was on an Air Pacific jumbo and took around 3 hours. Once we arrived at Nadi airport and left the aircraft we could feel the tropical atmosphere. From the airport we went to our transfer bus that took us to the Fijian Shangri La resort on the Coral Coast.

On arrival at the resort it was like paradise. The hotel lobby was an open air building and was nicely decorated. We checked in and then were escorted to our spacious room. The bed was nicely decorated with tropical flowers, what a nice welcome.

The next morning we woke up and headed to the smörgåsbord breakfast. As I mentioned earlier we purchased a Fiji package holiday which included all food. We feasted on a wide variety of food including tropical fruit. After that we were ready for some lounging around the pool, and then some swimming.

At the Shangri La Fijian resort there are several swimming pools and a delightful beach. We grabbed a spot by the main pool and relaxed for the day. We mixed our swim time with some time of the free catamaran sailing boat. We also paddled on the sea kayaks provided by the hotel.

Later in the day I grabbed some flippers and goggles and did some snorkeling. I now knew I was in paradise. There were beautiful fish everywhere as I swam in the crystal clear warm waters of Fiji.

As the sun set over the sea we admired the beautiful colors of the sunset before heading off to dinner in one of the restaurants. From memory we had a choice of 4. The food catered for all tastes. It was fabulous. The only problem was we all were going to gain a few pounds while on vacation.

Several days passed, we had played golf, tennis and lazed by the pool. Our daughter had enjoyed her days in the kids club which meant more relaxation time for my wife and I.

After seven days it was time to leave the Shangri La Fijian resort. Our only regret was that we did not book a two week holiday.

Now with the cold weather approaching here in Australia I feel now is the time to go on another vacation in Fiji.
