What are good snacks/foods to bring on a long flight?
I am going to Europe from the US. What are some good things to bring with me? What are the carry-on baggage laws? I was hoping to bring a small suitcase and hopefully a tote bag. Will I be able to carry these on? How do I request a vegetarian meal on board? Any info would be great.
Good things to bring include a book or magazine, an iPod and some snacks in case you do not like the food. If you are flying on an airline without the personal TVs on the back of every seat, bringing a portable DVD player is not a bad idea. I would recommend that you try to sleep as much as possible though. You can visit http://www.seatguru.com to find out if your airline has personal TVs on every seat.
As for carry-on, the bags should fit either in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you. You can go to the website on the airline you are flying with to find out the size. Bringing a small suitcase and tote bag should be fine and you should be able to carry those items on board.
Call the airline if you want a vegetarian meal. That is a special request and must be ordered at least 24 hours before your flight. The sooner you give them advanced notice, the better. You can also bring some granola bars, trail mix, crackers or chips as snacks. The airline should serve you beverages but if you get thirsty easily, bring an empty water bottle through security and fill it up at a water fountain.
